National Electric Supply Wins Top Honors
at National Electrical Leadership Summit
Jan Niehaus, president of Communication by Design, evaluated the energy-efficiency solutions implemented by distributors across the nation, while serving as a judge in the “Greenest of the Green” corporate competition.
National Electric Supply in Albuquerque, NM, took top honors, based on their facilities, policies, and operations. The award was announced at the National Electrical Leadership Summit in San Diego on May 2nd.

Niehaus was honored to serve on the four-member panel of judges with international leaders in sustainability:
- Jerry Yudelson is an internationally renowned expert on green building and sustainability, former U.S. Green Building Council Board member, and acclaimed author.
- Mary Ann Lazarus is senior vice president and firm-wide director of sustainable design at the international planning and design firm HOK and co-author of The HOK Guidebook to Sustainable Design.
- Bill Attardi heads the New Jersey-based consulting firm Attardi Marketing and brings decades of lighting industry experience, having worked in-house at Westinghouse, Philips, and USI Lighting.
Jan Niehaus is founder and president of Communication by Design, a St. Louis-based marketing communications and custom training firm. She has written on “green” issues for close to 20 years. CbD also provided instructional design and writing on NAED’s successful online curriculum “Selling Green 101.”
The “Greenest of the Green” competition is sponsored by tED magazine, a publication of the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED).
